Certification FSC™

Comaco Forestal counts with FSC™ certification, (Forest Management and Chain of Custody Certificates) in its Forest, Industrial and Commercial activities, through the CERCOM Group (Certification Comaco S.A.). FSC ™ certified, ie, the responsible management of forest resources, give equal attention to the social, environmental and economic extends to: Forest Management Chain of Custody and Controlled Wood

Currently, the company has the largest timberland FSC™ certified in Chile: More than 80.000 hectares, with FSC™ Forest Management certification. At the same time, it was the first Chilean forest company to obtain its Chain of Custody FSC™ certificate.

Forest certification is an assessment process to which the owner of a forest submits to voluntarily. Such assessment is conducted by an Independent Certification Body, through a field auditing program, in order to verify the compliance of Principles, Criteria and Standards established by the FSC™ seal. An important component of this auditing program, is the public consultation to stakeholders, who can be directly and indirectly impacted by the Company’s activities.

FSC™, Forest Stewardship Council™, is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization, formed by members from around the world and whose mission is to promote an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable forest management.

Comaco Forestal promotes FSC™ certification of small and medium-sized forest owners through PRODEFOR, which is open to any forest owner in conditions to meets the Group’s regulations and, mainly, the Principles and Criteria of FSC™ certification system.
